Yacht owners and captains planning their itineraries for the upcoming season now have a new reason to consider Montenegro as a strategic stop. Recent regulatory changes have reinstated duty-free fuel<\/strong> for yachts that remain in Montenegrin waters for more than 72 hours, offering a cost-effective refuelling solution in the region.<\/p>\n

Where to Access Duty-Free Fuel<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The following ports in Montenegro are now providing duty-free fuel services:<\/p>\n

  • Porto Montenegro<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Portonovi<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Marina Bar<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    To take advantage of duty-free fuel, yachts must comply with specific requirements:<\/p>\n

    1. Minimum 72-Hour Stay in Montenegrin Waters<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    Yachts must remain in Montenegro for at least 72 hours<\/strong>, not including the day of arrival, before they can refuel under the duty-free scheme.<\/p>\n

    2. Immediate Departure After Refuelling<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    Once fuelling is complete, yachts must leave Montenegrin waters immediately<\/strong>, as the fuel is intended for use outside of Montenegro.<\/p>\n

    3. Regulated Return Timing<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    After refuelling, yachts cannot return to Montenegro immediately<\/strong>. Customs officials will regulate the return period based on the fuel quantity purchased and estimated consumption.<\/p>\n

    To ensure a smooth process, the following rules must be observed:<\/p>\n

    1. Agent Requirement<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    All duty-free fuel transactions must be arranged through an authorised agent<\/strong>. Direct inquiries will be referred to a list of registered agents. To avoid delays, captains should notify their agent well in advance of their refuelling plans.<\/p>\n

    2. Pricing & Prepayment<\/strong><\/h5>\n

    • Fuel prices follow the official government rate.<\/li>\n
    • A Fuel Dock Usage Fee<\/strong> applies.<\/li>\n
    • Prepayment is required<\/strong> to secure the fuel quantity.<\/li>\n
